Madikeri, or Mercara as it was known in Colonial days is the capital of Coorg ( or Kodagu ) and is home to Udaya Homestay.

Coorg is land to the Kodavas or Coorgs, a distinct race in South India whose customs, features and dress set them apart. This mountainous land was ruled by the British and the Lingayat Rajas, both of whose imprints of history remain.

Coorg is home to some of India's finest wildlife and forests. The Nagarhole Game Sanctuary is home to a plethora of bird and wildlife.With its rolling mountains and buttermilk waterfalls ( particularly spectacular during the monsoons ), this land is a nature lover and trekker's paradise.

As witness to India's ancient history, Talacauvery, an important shrine and birthplace of the Cauvery river, was home to Sage Agasthya, one of India's great sages of spiritual wisdom and doyen of scientific knowledge.
